The service is provided by the Australian Energy Regulator and other market bodies and offers free, personalised guidance on how new technologies or business models may be delivered under the current regulatory framework. Soon new energy laws will also enable the Energy Innovation Toolkit to facilitate real-world trials of innovative technologies products and services through temporary rule exemptions and temporary rule changes.
As well as the service the Energy Innovation Toolkit website presently offers a series of case studies to assist businesses and start-ups, as well as an interactive Regulation Navigator which provides on-the-spot guidance on which key regulatory obligations may apply to scenarios created by the user.
