Hunter businesses will have the chance to examine the NSW Budget up close at an upcoming Business Hunter breakfast featuring NSW Treasurer The Hon. Daniel Mookhey MLC.
Taking place on Tuesday 12 August at McDonald Jones Stadium, the event will focus on how the 2025–26 Budget may affect the region’s business environment, with a particular focus on investment confidence, infrastructure priorities, and operating costs.
The Treasurer’s keynote will be followed by a Q&A session and a local economic update. Attendees can expect insight into the broader economic direction of the state and how it connects to the day-to-day pressures facing regional enterprises.
Among the Budget’s confirmed commitments are funding streams for energy, health and logistics, along with ongoing major infrastructure projects. In the Hunter, developments such as the Newcastle Renewable Energy Logistics Precinct and the Future Jobs and Investment Authority reflect the role of renewable energy as a growing industry that’s central to the region’s economic outlook. These projects also point to the Government’s focus on supporting sectors that underpin diversification in regional NSW.
Business Hunter says the forum is an opportunity to unpack what these investments will mean in practice, and to bring attention to ongoing challenges such as rising input costs, tax settings, and the need for policy changes that support business growth.
With economic conditions shifting and government decisions playing an increasing role in shaping local outcomes, the event offers business leaders a chance to directly engage with policymakers and inform planning for the year ahead.
The Business in Focus breakfast runs from 7:00 to 9:00 AM.
