Hunter businesses are invited to the New.E Knowledge Exchange on 17 September, a morning event designed to connect local industry with academic expertise in recycling and clean energy. Hosted by HunterNet in Newcastle West, the Knowledge Exchange runs from 8am to 10am and includes a light breakfast.

This session will focus on the opportunities offered by the Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) program, delivered by UNSW and the University of Newcastle with support from the Australian Government Department of Education.

For businesses working on complex recycling or clean energy challenges, TRaCE offers a way to de-risk R&D and turn research into commercially viable products. TRaCE provides practical support for businesses, including access to world-class researchers, facilities and equipment, as well as guidance on intellectual property, training, and co-funding opportunities.

Participants will hear directly from Hunter businesses already working with universities to tackle real challenges, test new technologies, and build competitive advantage. Through interactive discussions and presentations, the event will cover how research partnerships can unlock new ideas, tools, solutions, and funding for businesses.

Creating an innovation ecosystem that will foster the change needed to get incredible research solutions to market faster, TRaCE recently launched Concept to Pilot, a program designed to help companies move from early research into pilot-scale testing.

The Concept to Pilot scheme is open to organisations across Australia that partner with University of Newcastle researchers. It provides co-funding of between $50,000 and $200,000, covering up to 40 per cent of project costs. To be eligible, applicants must show their project fits within one of TRaCE’s research themes: solar technology, green fuels, clean energy, or circular economy.

Whether you’ve partnered with researchers before or you’re curious about where to start, this New.E Knowledge Exchange will show you how collaboration can help your business lead, not follow, in a fast-changing world. Places are limited and tickets moving fast.
