Austrade has opened expressions of interest for its Climate & Sustainability Tech to Indonesia Landing Pad, with applications closing on 8 May 2026 and places limited. The program is intended to support Australian companies to better understand the Indonesian market, build connections with potential partners and customers, and explore pathways for pilot activity aligned with the country’s green transition priorities. Participation in the program is free, with companies required to cover their own travel and associated costs if attending in-market activities.
Program combines three-week virtual preparation with in-market immersion in Jakarta
The program is delivered in two stages, beginning with a three-week virtual component running from 26 May to 9 June, followed by a 2.5-day in-market immersion in Jakarta from 22 to 24 June. Companies can elect to participate in either component or both, with the virtual sessions designed to prepare participants for engagement on the ground.
The virtual program includes weekly sessions facilitated by Austrade, industry consultants, technical specialists and legal advisers. These sessions cover Indonesia’s market landscape, climate and sustainability technology opportunities, and regulatory and risk considerations relevant to operating in-country.
In-market program aligned with major regional sustainability forum and business engagement opportunities
The Jakarta immersion is scheduled to coincide with the Global Sustainable Development Congress, which is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants from industry and government across sectors including energy, ICT infrastructure, agriculture and forestry.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the forum’s business program, alongside structured activities including workshops with potential partners and customers, one-on-one business matching sessions, and networking events. The program also includes briefings from Australian Embassy representatives, industry overviews and regulatory sessions to support market entry planning.
Target technology areas reflect demand across emissions, infrastructure, logistics and compliance systems
Austrade is seeking applications from companies operating across a defined set of climate and sustainability technology areas. These include emissions measurement and carbon monitoring solutions suited to low-data environments, along with audit-grade reporting aligned with buyer requirements.
Additional focus areas include green data centre infrastructure such as liquid cooling and renewable-powered facilities, supply chain traceability platforms, and logistics emissions reduction solutions including route optimisation and fleet efficiency systems.
The program also targets distributed energy and energy management platforms, digital monitoring and reporting solutions for land-based carbon and ecosystem projects, and enterprise software addressing governance, risk and compliance aligned with international climate reporting standards.
Indonesia market characterised by scale, regulatory change and increasing climate investment activity
Indonesia is identified as a large and developing market for climate and sustainability technologies, with a population of 288 million people and a geographically dispersed economy spanning more than 17,000 islands. The country is experiencing ongoing economic and digital growth, alongside increasing adoption of technology across sectors including agriculture, forestry, logistics and energy.
The climate and sustainability sector is expanding in line with Indonesia’s net-zero target for 2060 and increasing levels of investment in clean energy and environmental initiatives. Demand is emerging across carbon markets, logistics efficiency, data infrastructure and supply chain compliance, shaped by both domestic policy settings and regulatory requirements in export markets.
Eligibility criteria focused on export-ready Australian businesses
Applicants must be Australian registered businesses with an active ABN and an existing product supported by customers or partners. Companies are required to demonstrate readiness for export, including sufficient funding to support at least 12 months of international expansion.
Eligibility also requires that applicants are currently exploring, or in the early stages of, entering the Indonesian market, and are able to participate in both the virtual and in-market components if selected. Applications will be assessed based on company stage, sector alignment and market readiness.
Travel requirements and compliance with business conduct expectations
Austrade advises that participants must meet business conduct requirements, including compliance with legal obligations such as anti-bribery laws in both Australia and overseas markets. Companies considering participation in the in-market program are encouraged to review official government travel advice prior to departure.
With defined demand emerging across carbon systems, logistics efficiency, energy management and digital infrastructure, the program provides a structured pathway for Australian firms to test capability and build commercial relationships in a nearby market that is actively shaping its approach to climate and sustainability.
Applications close on May 8, 2026.
