With the 2026 Hunter New Energy Symposium now just one week away, attention is turning to delegate numbers and limited availability for one of the event’s newest additions.
Organisers are encouraging people considering attendance to secure tickets immediately, with access to the Hunter New Energy Industry Showcase and Tour tied exclusively to Symposium registration and places restricted by coach capacity.
Scheduled for Wednesday 27 May, the full-day program gives Symposium delegates access not only to the main event, but also to the organisations, technologies and projects contributing to delivery across the Hunter’s energy sector.
The optional add-on, available at no extra cost to Symposium ticket holders, combines a morning of presentations at HunterNet with an afternoon guided industry tour.
From presentations to project sites
The morning program will feature presentations from organisations spanning research, commercialisation, manufacturing and deployment, reflecting different stages of the Hunter’s energy supply chain.
Participants include ATB Morton, Allegro Energy, MGA Thermal, UEG Energy, Energy Diversions, Sunman Energy, FPR Energy, NextFarm, Facet Amtech and TRaCE, alongside other contributors across the sector.
TRaCE will provide an overview of how research and commercialisation pathways connect startups and emerging ventures with industry and market opportunities.
Several presenters are focused on technologies aimed at industrial and infrastructure settings. FPR Energy is commercialising concentrated solar thermal technology capable of delivering high-temperature industrial heat, while MGA Thermal manufactures reusable thermal storage blocks at its Tomago facility.
Other organisations are exploring applications including buoyancy-based energy storage, lightweight solar technologies, low-emissions ammonia production, biofuels and electric vehicle conversions.
The format has been designed to move beyond discussion and into practical delivery, connecting delegates with working businesses and projects operating in the region.
Access to working Hunter facilities
Following the morning presentations, delegates will travel to working sites across the region, including confirmed stops at ATB Morton and Allegro Energy, with the final route to be confirmed closer to the event.
Transport and lunch are being provided by ATB Morton, a Hunter manufacturer increasingly involved in renewable and energy infrastructure projects.
The tour component has been developed for delegates wanting a closer understanding of how new energy technologies and industrial capability are being applied in practice, moving from presentations into manufacturing and operational environments.
New speakers added as program expands
The Symposium program has also continued to evolve in the lead-up to the event, with additional speakers joining sessions covering project delivery, infrastructure, policy, capital and regional capability.
Recent additions include representatives from Hall & Willcox, Muswellbrook Shire Council, Transport for NSW, Transgrid, GHD, Commonwealth Bank, The Melt, the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub and the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources.
The broader Hunter New Energy Week program also includes an invite-only Next Generation Forum focused on emerging leaders in the energy transition.
With delegates receiving Showcase registration access only after purchasing a Symposium ticket, and limited seats available on the coach tour, people hoping to take part in the full experience are being encouraged to act before registrations close.
