Applications are open for the Going Global Export Program focused on Net Zero and Energy Transition to the United Kingdom, running from March to May 2026. The program is designed for export-ready NSW small and medium enterprises seeking practical exposure to UK clean energy markets, rather than general promotion or desk-based research.

Delivered by Investment NSW, the program combines a structured preparation phase with a compulsory in-market mission. The intent is to help businesses test commercial fit, understand operating conditions and make informed decisions about entering the UK and, by extension, European markets.

Applications close on Sunday 15 February 2026.

Preparation before travel

Participants will complete a tailored six-to-eight-week market preparation program ahead of travel. The curriculum focuses on practical aspects of doing business in the UK net zero sector, including market structure, buyer expectations and regulatory settings. This phase is intended to ensure businesses arrive with a clear value proposition and realistic understanding of the market.

Support continues beyond travel, with ongoing engagement through Investment NSW’s onshore and international networks.

A four-city UK itinerary

The in-market component runs from Monday 11 May to Tuesday 19 May 2026 and requires in-person attendance by a company representative. Activities span four locations:

  • London (11–12 May): market briefings and business meetings
  • Glasgow (13–14 May): participation in the All Energy Glasgow Exhibition & Conference as part of a NSW delegation
  • Newcastle upon Tyne (15 May): site visits and business meetings
  • Cardiff (18–19 May): site visits and business meetings

The itinerary is designed to expose participants to different regional markets and project environments, rather than a single commercial centre.

Why these regions

The program positions northeast England and Wales as practical entry points for NSW firms. These regions host active development across offshore wind, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and related infrastructure, alongside research and development activity and supply-chain demand.

Participation in All Energy Glasgow provides exposure to a large concentration of developers, investors and policymakers, while regional site visits are intended to ground discussions in current projects and operating conditions.

Who the program is for

The program targets export-ready NSW businesses with net zero-related solutions that are committed to entering the UK and European markets. It is not suitable for aggregators, traders, consultants, businesses based outside NSW, or companies offering non-Australian solutions.

Eligible applicants must:

  • employ between 3 and 199 full-time equivalent staff
  • be new to the UK market or demonstrate a need for NSW support
  • show a clear NSW footprint through headquarters, production, business activity or planned expansion
  • own and produce their own branded product or service
  • demonstrate export capability, commercial suitability and capacity to adapt offerings for the UK market
  • commit to all program components, including travel

Ideal product categories include net zero and renewable energy technologies and services across the supply chain, such as wind, hydrogen, smart grids and energy storage.

Participants will be chosen through a merit-based assessment. Where applications exceed available places, priority will be given to businesses best suited to the program and those new to the market or the Going Global Export Program stream.
