A global program that supports early-stage cleantech ideas is now open for applications in Australia — but the deadline is only a week away.
ClimateLaunchpad, delivered in Australia by EnergyLab in partnership with Climate-KIC Australia and Boomerang Labs, is free to join and provides a structured pathway for new ventures focused on tackling climate change. Anyone with a green business idea — including students, researchers, and start-ups — can apply, provided the idea is under two years old, has raised less than €200,000, and has not yet made commercial sales.
Participants get access to a three-day bootcamp in Sydney, followed by local coaching and mentoring to help refine their business model, understand customer needs, and build a viable venture. There are also pitching opportunities at both national and international levels, with the top Australian team sponsored to attend the Global Grand Final in Vienna later this year.
The program is designed to help people move from an early concept — even if it’s still scribbled on a napkin — to something with commercial potential. Along the way, they’ll connect with investors, funders, and a wider community of cleantech innovators.
Applicants must be willing to travel to Sydney for the bootcamp and pitch event, as these are delivered in person. While the sessions are free, interstate participants will need to cover their own travel costs.
ClimateLaunchpad has already supported more than 5,000 teams across nearly 100 countries since it began in 2014. Past participants have collectively gone on to raise more than €500 million in investment.
Ideas from any cleantech field are welcome — whether it’s renewable energy, urban mobility, food system innovations, or something else that reduces environmental impact using technology.
