Allegro Energy is an Australian deep-tech company headquartered in Thornton, NSW, manufacturing breakthrough long-duration energy storage systems built on patented microemulsion electrolyte technology.
Allegro’s Microemulsion Flow Battery (MeFB) is inherently non-flammable, produces no hydrogen gas, and requires no active HVAC, eliminating the fire suppression infrastructure and safety exclusion zones that conventional battery storage demands. For mining operations, data centres, and grid infrastructure, this represents a fundamental reduction in both risk and total system cost.
The technology’s electrolyte combines globally abundant commodity chemicals in precise ratios, reducing electrolyte costs significantly compared to conventional redox flow systems and eliminates rare earth dependencies entirely. Manufacturing utilises standard materials and processes available through any supply chain, reducing production bottle necks and insulating projects from supply chain disruption.
Allegro manufactures modular, containerised 1MW+ 4h-24h+ systems suited to grid firming, renewable energy projects, mining and remote microgrids, data centres, and utilities. The technology is currently being piloted at Origin Energy’s Eraring Power Station in the Hunter Valley with a 800kWh system.
